The only FDA approved microneedling device on the market!
We are proud to offer the only FDA approved microneedling device on the market, SkinPen. This non-laser treatment creates microscopic channels in the skin with a single-use tip with tiny stainless-steel needles. The needles essentially are punched into the skin creating a controlled “injury” which in turn starts the cascade of healing process in our skin to promote collagen production. Because it does not use heat or light, it is safe for all skin types.
This procedure is primarily meant to improve the texture of the skin and is a great option for fine lines, wrinkles and scarring. Although it does not target pigment, patients may notice an improvement in overall skin tone simply due to healthier skin overall after their treatment.
We will almost always recommend a series of 3 treatments for best results spaced 4-6
weeks apart, but will be able to better assess your individual concerns after we meet with you in person. Patients will be numbed with a topical numbing cream prior to their treatment making it quite comfortable. The procedure for a full face will take about an hour. Other popular areas to treat include the neck and chest.
Patients will be pink or red after their treatment and look similar to a sunburn. It will feel tight and dry and a little warm similar to a mild windburn. You may also notice some flakiness for a few days after the treatment.
Patients will be advised not to wear makeup, exercise, or go directly in the sun for the first 24 hours. We also advise waiting a week before using active topicals like retinols or acne products. After 24 hours, patients can resume their normal routine, including wearing makeup. This brief cosmetic downtime is another reason this treatment has been so popular with patients.
Benefits of PRP + microneedling treatment
What is PRP?
Our blood is made of two main components, red blood cells, and plasma, the plasma contains white blood cells and platelets, which are rich in growth factors. Growth factors improve cell communication and can help stimulate collagen production and healing.
How is the procedure done?
The process begins with a standard blood draw from the patient's arm. The tube of blood is then put into a centrifuge, which spins the blood to separate out the red blood cells from the plasma. The plasma which is rich in platelets is then infused into the skin through the micro-needling channels.
Does it hurt?
We apply a topical numbing cream to the skin prior to treatment making the procedure very comfortable for most patients. If you do experience mild discomfort, you can take Tylenol after your treatment. Most patients feel like they have a mild sunburn or windburn for the first 24 hours and most redness will subside after the first 24 hours.
Who is a candidate?
Because PRP is your own blood, it is safe and effective for virtually everyone. Additionally, when combined with micro-needling, all skin types can be treated.
What kind of results should I expect?
The
PRP
, when introduced to the skin via micro-needling, act as a matrix to promote your own collagen production, regenerate tissue, and leave the skin smoother and tightener. Consequently,
PRP
softens wrinkles and creates improved texture and tone. Patients will notice an improvement with just a single treatment and anytime you are stimulation collagen you will continue to see improvement for 60-90 days post treatment. Optimal results will be seen with a series of 3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
