Skin discoloration
Skin discoloration may be due to a variety of factors such as sun, hormones, medications, allergies, etc. At Tareen Dermatology, we will work with you to find the cause of the discoloration as well as an effective treatment plan.

Melasma
Melasma is a common type of discoloration that typically occurs on the upper lip, cheeks and forehead of women. It is brought about by a combination of sun exposure and hormones. Sunscreen (particularly broad spectrum sunscreen) is key for prevention. A variety of other therapies may be used, alone or in combination, including lightening creams, chemical peels and laser treatments.

Brown spots and discoloration
Brown spots can be treated with a variety of lasers at our office that can be effective treatment options including the PicoGenesis, Alexandrite, and CO2 treatments. Although you see improvement with each treatment, the number of treatments needed can vary by the individual and their desired results. We can best recommend which laser and the number of treatments we anticipate you needing upon seeing you in person. As with all procedures for brown pigment, it is imperative that you avoid sun exposure and wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen. Treatments starting at at $250.
